Where to stay in Koh Lanta, Thailand

We for ourselves a bungalow for the night. The setting of the Sanctuary Hostel is very bohemian, the bungalows were cute but they all had outside bathrooms. By that I mean a shower, sink and toilet were out the back with just a wall around it. The barking of dogs and crying of children soon took it's toll so we decided to find a new place to stay.
We managed to stumble upon the beautiful Sunflower Bungalows and Spa. A very serene and gorgeously laid out hotel area with palm trees, well tended lawns and a relaxed atmosphere. A guest let us check out the bungalow that was not only gorgeous but also cheaper than our room at the sanctuary. Also thankfully with a very nice indoor bathroom.
As it turned out moving was the best and pretty much the only move we made while on Koh Lanta. Our bungalow was quiet, beautiful and had a veranda with a hammock and wicker sun lounger.
The owner of the hotel, Norman was wonderful company each evening as friends would arrive for dinner. All of the food was sublime and Norman even cooked off-menu for us. The generosity, friendly surroundings and fun dry sense of humour made our stay all the more enjoyable.
Other than an hour or so jaunt to Relax bay to check out another hotel we'd been recommended we did very little each day except swing in our hammock, read, snooze and have he occasional iced coffee or banana milkshake. It was 3 days of pure heavenly procrastination.
Our stay at the Sunflower Bungalow and Spa was akin to meditation. We haven't felt so relaxed, content and at home anywhere quite as much as we did there. If you ever go to Koh Lanta I'd highly recommend Norman's wonderful sunflower bungalows. Whether you go diving, tour the island or simply so absolutely nothing everyday, you'll enjoy Koh Lanta.
