Snorkelling in St. Vincent and The Grenadines

One of the many highlights of a tropical island nation is without doubt the snorkelling. Its so easy, just jump off a boat and swim to the shallow coral reefs where you'll find all manner of amazing creatures. On my recent trip to St. Vincent & The Grenadines with Discover SVG I had the pleasure of spending an entire day on board a beautiful double-hulled yacht. We stayed at the wonderful Palm Island resort and boarded our boat with a glass of champagne to kick things off. Sun bathing on board while we set sail for the nearby Tobago Cays.

Tobago Cays

This shallow patch of water is a small collection of islands and beaches where the water is calm and easy to swim. Its also home to a number of beautiful turtles and a large collection of coral reefs. Our boat stopped right in the middle of all of this and we could easily jump in and explore. It wasn't long before I had made some fishy friends who were curious about my underwater camera. After that the turtles glided around me and right up close too, perfect for filming them as they searched for food.

There's some beautiful coral here, some of the most colourful I've ever seen. There's a great number of fish here too and even some Lobster! The different types of coral and sea life was incredible. I could have stayed down there all day but the searing hot sun of these islands near the equator means that you soon need to head back to the shade of the boat and enjoy another Rum Punch.
